July Obscure Sorrows Tarot Challenge

For all of July, I’ve been taking part in La Reine de L’air‘s Obscure Sorrows Tarot Challenge on Tumblr and Instagram.  It has been very eye-opening to say the least!  I was approaching it from a detached place at first because I wasn’t quite ready to dive right in to Shadow Work for the Summer but as it has been progressing, the sunny Summer is getting pretty shadowy!

I had already started my adventures in Inner Child Work and I decided that needed a little more time for Shadow Work but I think that these things just happened to line up this way so that there was no avoiding it.  I know you’re supposed to do a little prep before starting Shadow Work – like making sure you’re ready for it – and I just kind of scared myself out of it.  Nobody wants to deal with their inner demons!  But I know that facing them is the only way to start healing.  There’s no way around it.  So I started to approach these prompts with gusto – or what I think I’d like to refer to as ‘gusto’ – and I have been uncovering more than I could ever imagine!

I tried getting away with just a one card draw but I followed La Reine de L’air’s cue with three: [the main question / prompt] / What energy to employ to comfort this sorrow / How to be kind about it.  The two extra questions make a world of difference for me!  I highly suggest you use them.  She also used three different decks (one of them is the Hello Kitty deck I want so badly!)  I thought about that but I wanted to do what I did for June’s 3-Card Spread challenge by Wolf Moon Tarot which was use a different deck for each day so I could get to know my decks better and it has been quite beautiful!  From the arrival of The Fountain, the Tarot of Delphi and the Penny Dreadful decks, I think I have spread these out quite nicely!  Though, I haven’t read with Penny Dreadful just yet.  Talk about more shadows!

I have been uncovering more things about myself that I thought were buried so deep I was hoping I would forget about them but good ol Shadow Work will dig it all up!  There is a disclaimer on the original post but I chose to dive in anyway.  I need to clear all these things so I can properly progress.  This past weekend got a little heavy.  Saturday’s post was particularly heavy with the way the evening unfolded.  And then Sunday’s post revealed to me that I had more work ahead of me than I thought!  I guess that’s not a bad thing.

These readings have been helpful in implementing the changes I have been talking about with Rochelle.  She gave me one of the best, most in-depth readings I’ve had in a long time!  Not to say that the other readings I’ve had are bad – they have been amazingly eye-opening too!! – but she sent me 2 audio files of her reading plus photos of the cards she pulled with accompanying notes so I could process it all on my own time.  Luckily, I was recovering from my wisdom teeth extraction and had some time to myself to process everything.  And believe me, there was A LOT.  She gave me many, many great things to consider on my path and I have been slowly exploring those elements and how they apply.  She has also been checking in on me asking for updates, which I am truly grateful for because you know that she cares.  Her work is amazing and I highly recommend you get a reading from her as soon as possible!  Check out her Facebook page!  And don’t worry, her website is launching very soon!  And in case you’re wondering, I’m not being paid to tell you all that – Rochelle is amazing and I want to shout it from the rooftops!  Seriously, get a reading from her!  You’ll love it!  Her kind words have been a great companion to all this Shadow Work.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of July plays out with these Obscure Sorrows and if you’re taking part, I’d love to check it out!
