Oh. My. Glob. This. Deck. I don’t think I’ve experienced #decklust or deck FOMO this hard since…I don’t know when, to be perfectly honest. I had seen so many gorgeous photos of this “sassy burrito” deck and I just knew I had to have it. When I felt like I couldn’t take it any longer, I went to order it but it was sold out! Major sad face. But then Jess posted about it and I knew that I had to keep trying so that I could finally get my hands on this lovely. To my delight, it was back in stock (forever, I hope!) at Stasia Burrington’s shop. Of course I ordered it immediately and of course I reveled in the gold edged, silky smooth, magical cards. Let’s take a look at what’s in store with our budding new friendship.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I loved The OA. It was surprising in many different ways. I really enjoy the way Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij tell stories. It’s great to see their collaborations come to life in such a unique way. If you haven’t seen Another Earth, I strongly recommend it! The East is also worth the watch as well! But I digress.
The OA was so mystical and other-worldly and it felt like an extended, or possibly a long-lost episode of Supernatural, minus Sam and Dean. And the performances by the entire cast was wonderful! Everyone blew me away.
I remember seeing Vix’s spread on FB forever ago and it piqued my interest, so I watched one episode and then promptly binged the whole series, as one does with Netflix shows these days. And then, I just forgot about it. Maybe the timing and deck choices weren’t right at that time. Maybe this spread was waiting for me to buy the Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot (what the heck took me so long?!). Maybe I didn’t need to deal with this intense of a look into things until now. Who knows! Let’s take a trip to The OA and maybe we’ll learn the 5th movement.
Here we go again! Another month gone. How was your May? Did you follow the Kings of Wands fire? It led me down some interesting paths, if I’m being totally honest. That Wands fire: always illuminating, always passionate, always fiery.
Holding on to that fire, let’s find out what June holds.
This little deck has gone through quite a bit on its journey! I was still fairly new to the whole Kickstarter thing. In fact, this was the first Kickstarter I had ever backed! A little over a year later and Ginnie Jester‘s creation is finally here! Let’s see how well we’ll work together, shall we?
I recently got this lil baby in the mail and omg the art is even more beautiful in person! I love it!! But because I love the artwork so much, I’m sad to say that the orange borders are kind of a buzzkill with this one. Dare I say it, will this be the first ever deck I attempt at modifying? I’m hesitant to take a paper cutter / scissors / Xacto / sharp object to these babies but that pop of orange has got to go.
Orange borders aside, here’s the interview I promised in my Favorite Decks for Fall post. Enjoy!
Do you ever notice during certain seasons, you’re drawn to certain decks over others?
Even though it is still pretty hot here in Atlanta, I’ve been feeling that faint Fall crisp in the air. And when that happens, I notice I gravitate towards more Fall-feeling decks. Check out my favorite picks for Fall!
